Nothing has recently been changed on my computer except for Windows updates. This message comes up when doing something that I do daily. Hardware acceleration has been off for a long time and should still be. I will check it though. I'm not sure how it was done but IT had to jump through some loops to get what is actually an overly customized version of ADT3.3 to run on the 64 bit machines. One of the other guys has seen the message before but has just dealt with the occasional annoyance because AutoCAD keeps running normally after the error.
I'm thinking that has more to do with trying to run such an old program on the way newer OS and hardware. Our CAD manager refuses to support this program anymore, even though a majority of the company is still using it. He also has failed at getting a newer version running for the company. This has been going on for years but they still keep him in that position. I can't put all the blame on him though. A lot of it has to do with the fact that ADT3.3 is so customized for the company that it is very easy to use and the jump to 2011 (or any of the versions between for that matter) will put a big dent in the number of people that can be productive with AutoCAD. As far as I'm concerned, this has to change and quickly. I've got an idea that I'm pretty sure I can implement 2011 for my team. With just a few days or less of some tedious work, it should work. I may have to do some hours on my own time but, if I can do it successfully, it should give me a leg up to getting the raise that is so long over due and maybe even get that ITwit out of that position.
Well that turned into a bit of a rant, didn't it? Thanks for listening.
