Plot to image file, what works best?
« on: January 25, 2008, 01:07:59 PM »
In your experience what has given you the best results when plotting to an image format? I've been trying to get a decent image from autocad all morning with little luck. Plotting to .bmp or .jpg both get very pixelated. Of course this drawing has both colors and an aerial image so I can't just 'wmfout' the thing. My title block is ANSI D so I made my sheet 2448X1584 pixels in hopes of getting better quality, then I did 'plot extents' and fit to page.

Personally, I've had some good luck by first printing the drawing to PDF, then exporting from the PDF to an image (jpg).  The quality is usually better than going right to JPG from AutoCAD.

Mark, do you want my pc3 file which plots to TIF at 300dpi?
Everyone has a photographic memory, Some just don't have film.
They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy Bacon and that's a close second.
Sometimes the question is more important than the answer. (Thanks Kerry for reminding me)

you also need to make a paper size in pixels at 300xPaperX and 300xPaperY (which is 10800x7200) for 36x24

Sorry, Acrobat Pro :(
There's an option under 'Advanced' to export all images.

I've always plotted to PNG.  The quality was always better than JPG, TIFF or BMP.
