Tabs for open drawings - A time saver
« on: March 12, 2008, 10:44:15 AM »
Hi

We are using iDwgTab from www.icomtools.com.  The site is in Korean and so is the default language of iDwgTab.

Here is the direct link to download iDwgTab.
http://www.icomtools.com/bbs/bbs1/download.php?file_nm=idwgtab2.0.0.11.zip&file_db_nm=idwgtab2.0.0.11.zip

I have also attached pdf that explains how to set the default language to English.

Hope someone find this useful.

What do they do that TASKBAR doesn't? (Not being smart-aleck -- honestly curious.)

Ditto that, I use Taskbar

I guess I'm the stubborn caveman... I use one Autocad taskbar, and succumb to CTRL+TAB or CTRL+SHIFT+TAB

There are many tools out there that can do the same thing.
I use MdiTab, because it's from Autodesk.

Save all
Save all and close
Print
Sort Tabs
View
.. etc

Aside from those reasons, most add-on products can be docked within the AutoCAD window on any side of the window, and is available for all versions of AutoCAD from R2000 - R2008 .. Taskbar was introduced in R2005

As far as Saveall goes, do any of these work differently than Express Tools?  We can't use the Express Tools version as it ignores the "Save as earlier version" setting and plenty of our clients are on earlier versions.

Hmmmm ..  I dunno ... I have never tried that  .. I suppose I could set my drawing type to a previous version and give it a go.

This is where eTransmit comes in REAAAAALLLY handy.  Just set up a transmittal to save as 2000 or 2004, grab all of the files, push a button and *poof* you've got your drawings (and all supporting drawings) saved as an earlier version.

Since I was upgraded last week, I have been trying DwgMan by CAELink... so far it seems to do what I need
Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

That's the one I run.  CAELink products are rock solid, and sadly for ADesk DwgMan tabs work better then there offerings.

True, but most of our office is still on 06.  Another reason (s'pose the most important reason) to dumb down my dwgs.

DWGTrueView 2008 can convert multiple directories at once.  You can also fiddle with a host of settings at the same time such as setting plotter to "none", replacing page setups, binding xrefs, plus other stuff.  You can overwrite the existing files, or send 'em to a different directory
