Maybe a dumb question...? Counting Blocks

As an example, for you folks that are designing a bldg., and you want to know how many 'type A' doors are on Level 2, how do you come up with the number?

Do you zoom in on the dwg and slowly scan the dwg while counting or is there something in CAD that lists 'There are 23 instances of block reference 'type A'?

AttExt

will work for you

you will need to make a template file to use with it....

C     Character (A - Z)

D     Digit (0 - 9)

F     Width of field (000 - 999)

P     Decimal places (.0 - .999)

Each line in the template file is a "record," which extracts one particular attribute from the drawing.

Apparently, bcount is not available in LT.

Attext looks difficult, but I will explore it further.

Thanks

Do you have the command "quick select" by typing "QSELECT" at the command line?

Good idea!!

QSelect works great.

Another one of those that I am embarrassed that I didn't think of. - (Again, I was thinking too hard.)

I guess it was a dumb quesiton. :)

Thanks
