Zigzaq prints as dashed line
« on: July 11, 2008, 08:27:00 AM »
I have a dwg that has a 'box' around an Energy Recovery Wheel. The Box is drawn as a Zigzag linetype set at .1 size. When printed here at our office, it prints fine - Just as drawn, but when printed in one of our other offices, it prints as shown in my attachment.

What can our other office do to make their printer print the linetype correct?

Are they plotting to the same plot device?

Perhaps plot them a DWF instead and then printer, driver, linetype files do not come into play.

They are printing do a different type printer, which I suspect is a 'el cheapo' from Walmart. - Before you say it... They won't be getting a different one, as what they print is for their own use only and there is only the 2 of them.

If they can't update their printer driver, I suspect they are SOL or they will have to FORCE me to change the Zigzag for a linetype that will print okay on their printer.

I take it the linetype displays properly on their computer

Yes, it displays fine but prints wrong.

I have confirmed that they are using an 'el cheapo' printer. I have talked with our IT guy and he plans to look at their printer driver and see if he can figure it out.

I KNOW they would NEVER go for printing it twice. - Once to DWF then to the printer.

Not an option.

Thanks anyway,

Thought I would point out that a DWF takes seconds and is a file, not on paper that should print to paper exactly as it looks in the file dwg.

My apologies if you already knew this. It just seems silly not to DWF it if it works and is fast. JMO
