Dynamic block and Line properties

I have an electrical home run block that is dynamic. When the block is inserted and I want to change the line properties I have to explode the block or change it in bedit? The dynamic block will not change with the layer properties. Anyone know anything about this?

did you create this block on layer zero (0)? with bylayer as its' properties?

I'm assuming you want to be able to change the linetype on the fly but leave it on the same layer??   In which case you'd have to change the linetype of the arc to BYBLOCK.
