A real problem - Educational licence "infection"
« on: July 31, 2007, 08:52:01 AM »
I used a couple of blocks downloaded from a site and apparently the blocks were created with a educational version of Acad. When I plot I have that blasted stamp on it stating "PRODUCED BY AN AUTODESK EDUCATIONAL PRODUCT". I cannot get rid of it...how can I resolve this problem?

1) delete the offending blocks from the hard drive
2) redraw the original drawing from scratch
3) pray you didn't xref that drawing into any other drawings

the educational plot stamp is incidious .. once it grabs hold of your drawing, it will spread like wildfire ... once an offending item is placed in a drawing, the whole drawing is corrupted from that point on.

try this, found on the AUGI website

Code: [Select]
Edit>Copy the objects you wish to use and then Edit>Paste them in an empty drawing.
Then save the drawing as "AutoCAD R12/LT12 DXF" and close the file.
As the file closes, it will prompt you to save as 2000 version, but do not.
Now you can Copy and Paste from the file you just created which does not have the plot stamp attached since it was not an option back in the R12 days

Owen Wengerd has a tool specifcally designed to scan and detect files
that were made with an educational variant of AutoCAD.

See www.manusoft.com/Software/EDU-Scan/Index.stm

An aside, an Owen will probably kick me in the stones for this, but I invite
everyone to check his site and consider his offerings -- a nice way to
give a little back to the man who has given so generously to the CADD
community.

Contact your reseller.  he should be able to provide means and methods to retrieve the drawing and provide a solution for any other infestations.  Lesson learned - don't use free stuff for commercial stuff.
