Can anyone give me a techical explanation why "True Type" fonts slow down drawing performance when a drawing with them is xref'd into another drawing? This is a follow up to my previous question on how to get rid of them.
Thanks,
Rob

Not only do they slow down the pc, they can crash cad if you try to change the linetype by entity in the properties dialog box, or the pull down menu!
I just decided to shx fonts.... autodesk has no other suggestion.

Good source Matt.
Rob I have way more problems with people sending me a dwg without the shx. file missing.
10 mins to open the drawing and nothing you can do about it.

Good source Matt.

Though his last paragraph was a bit confusing. We use RomanS.shx and 99% of text is mtext. If what Harrod say is true then why don't Autodesk just produce a RomanS.ttf?
