Bad blocks crashing Autocad and a fix
« on: July 05, 2006, 07:47:21 AM »
Hey folks, thought you might want to know about this.

Had one of my guys come to me complaining about a file that was crashing, it started crashing on plot, but then progressed to crashing even on a pan/zoom.

I tried recover, got a fatal error. Opened the drawing and tried audit, same thing.

Wblocked the drawing, no dice.

Watched the audit command and realized it was crashing when it was auditing a particular group of blocks.

Tried to select the blocks by various methods, any selection of them would crash it, which meant I could not delete them either (you have to select to delete.)

The fix turned out to open the drawing the blocks came from originally (they were brought in with a detail), and open the trouble drawing. I then used design center and used it to redefine the blocks back to the original, non fatal state.

Hope this helps someone else someday.

Chris
