Batch Plot
« on: September 22, 2011, 02:13:58 PM »
Hi All,..

I would like to know if some of you tried some batch-plot software...
Free or not..and if you can give some review.

We are seriously thinking about scraping the publish command here. :pissed:

thanks.

We use Acroplot on our ancient 2005, been pretty happy with it. The PDF quality is better/smaller than using Adobe.

Sorry, I still use a slightly tweaked version of publish.  I've got it pretty well figured out.  What are the issues you are having with it?  For everything else, i type in plt, hit enter twice, and get a plot file named and saved correctly.

Hi,

the problem with publish is that sometime it work,....sometime not....sometime print corectly,...sometime not...
and we always use same pagesetups. Also,...many times the publish print correctly the 22 TAB that we have in our 23.
in some case, the first or the last one do not print. why ? I dunno..they are all same pagesetup and same cardridge.

moreover,...in some case the publish can print all corectly,....if we try again 1 hour after...it miss a Layout.
so users here are very tired about that.

For some reason, we can't use Sheetset (client restriction)

so to prevent wasting time to test, print and use tree for nothing...
we'r looking for better solution.

Keep smile...

I used this external program to run all my batching, but you have to write your own script/lisp

that might by why we never have any issues, we only use 1 tab per drawing file.

We use Publish, here are the restrictions we have found:
  • Prior to 2012, you must turn off background publishing, if you are publishing to a multi-sheet file
  • You cannot have more than 4 tabs per drawing file
  • You cannot have more than 10 viewports per tab, if you are publishing to a multi-sheet file
  • You do not have to use Sheet Set manager, but it helps a lot

Andrea you could try also a different PDF printer using same publish command like PDF995 docuprinter.  It could miss also when escape button is hit while publishing.

I read that with Lawyer voice that states all the limitations for those sweepstakes or drug TV commercials.
I + XI = X is true ...  ... if you change your perspective.

I have only used Publish command for printing hard copies not for PDFs.  And even then it will throw up a big smelly belch at me every once in a great while.  For plotting to  PDFs I rolled my own PDF printing lisp that uses page setups.

Yeah, I could see that, but I find Publish works great if you observe these limitations. It works very well in 2012, they did make a lot of fixes.
