DWG size being compressed

Whats the best way to have a drawing with lots of info and lines to be compressed?

As in file size compression?
Or are you talking purging of unwanted items?

If the dwg is in the 2004 format it's already compressed. If you are compressing them for your own use them try bzip2 or rar.

I turn all layers on and thawed, zoom to extents, erase all (then remove all the objects with a crossing window), delete duplicate objects, cdgpurge, purge, audit, and save. I have been able to clean drawings up from 10 megs to 2 or 3. If sending it out to someone, I'll use winzip or rar, to compress it even more for sending.
