Integration Between AutoCAD ADT 2i and AutoCAD LT 2004

Does anybody have any specific experience of sharing drawings between ADT2i and LT2004?

We currently use ADT 2i for the majority of our drawings (we're in the middle of the 2004 upgrade cycle but a full rollout is a few weeks [or months!] away), we have a requirement for some new CAD machines but we can only justify purchasing LT as they will not be used as intensively as the other machines.

I've been on the AutoDESK website looking at the Object Enablers and it suggests using the 2004 ADT Object Enabler with LT 2004.

BUT!

Saving a drawing within LT with the 2004 enabler installed will upgrade the ADT Objects to the 2004 version. We don't really want this to happen as we still need to use ADT 2i to modify them also!

So really the questions I'm asking are :

Does anybody use this approach at the minute?

and

Would the 2000 object enabler work within 2004 without affecting the ADT objects?

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated

Chris

I've never used LT, but I do have something you might consider. I am using ADT4. I'm the only one in an office of 9 drafters. I have to save drawings back to 2000 format. If there are ADT elements within the drawing their proxy objects are uneditable and 2D. Also, in any case some computers get about 50 alert boxes each time they open a drawing that I've saved. You might see if Kate can open one of your drawings as she uses LT.

There's a nice little dialog box along the lines of
"AutoCAD has detected objects from a future version AEC commands have been unloaded"

It displays the ADT Objects alright but won't let in place editing of them.

It would be straightforward if I was using ADT 2004 saving back to LT 2000 because any saves from LT wouldn't detrimentally affect the ADT objects.

Ho-Hum

There aren't object enablers for ADT2i for LT2004 ?

Your not supposed to be able to edit the ADT objects when view the drawing in LT2004, the object enablers are so that when the drawing is opened in LT2004 you see the objects and not a proxy objects of it.

In any case, your main issue is that you're working with two different file formats (IE Autocad2000 in ADT2i and Autocad2004 in LT2004) this alone poses issue let alone dealing with objects :0

ADT4 to anything ADT previous gives proxy objects. Hate those things. You can't edit any ADT4 in a previous release.
