Updating text in multiple drawings using FIND
« on: May 15, 2019, 05:18:11 PM »
Here is something I just tried and it worked, we had a bunch of drawings that had mleaders that called out “CAT 6 in ¾” CONDUIT” and needed to remove the “in ¾” CONDUIT”.
I did the following

  • Open new empty drawing
  • Used XA(XREF ATTCH) command(you can attach more than one drawing at a time)
  • Selected all 60 sheets
  • Unchecked all “Specify On-Screen” checkboxes so it would not prompt me for insertion point, etc… for each drawing.
  • Used FIND command(Made sure I had search xrefs option checked)
  • Did a Replace and it updated text and saved drawings.
  • Charged job 4 hours
  • Plan on spending next 4 hours watching cat videos on you tube

Nice .. glad it worked for you :) .. I've had CAD crash more often than not when doing a find and replace within xrefs.
