Video Card Advice
« on: June 09, 2005, 08:24:59 AM »
We just bought a couple of HP tiger stations xw4200 and 2 wildcat video cards......but the video cards are AGP and the motherboard only has a PCI Express slot   . Do any of you have a recommendation of some good PCI Express Video Cards? It needs to have dual DVI outputs as well and around $400.

This was the one I was looking at:

Thanks,

Ron

You couldn't find the same card with a different connector for the same price?
Usually they don't cost a different price just because of the connector.

There is also a converter if you're talking about the plug-in end of it and not the physical attachment area.

There usually is both options for PCI and AGP.....but since PCI Express is a newer technology, many of the video card companies are trying to get up to speed with it and do not offer many cards.

Daron,

Do you have a link or info on these adapters?

Nevermind....

PCI Express cards [PCIe]
PCI Express cards will not fit into a standard PCI slot, or an AGP slot. PCI Express is not backward compatible with PCI or AGP, the connectors and signal levels are different.
