Zooming in PDFs inside AutoCAD

Can someone tell me why AutoCAD has such a hard time zooming into an attached PDF? It always seems to lock up my session. I usually try to make it a Raster first but, you know how people are always in a hurry!

AutoCAD and PDF had an incredibly rocky start, 2018 has gotten quite snappier and faster but it's still delayed compared to say a TIFF insert.
