Overrighting Dimension Styles
« on: September 07, 2017, 03:00:55 PM »
Drawing a blank here.

I have a dimension style I have updated in a new drawing.

I have an older drawing with the same dimension style name. The dimensions are in details that are blocks.

How can I get override / update the old dimstyle with the new dimstyle?

I know I can always burst all the details. Then select all the dims and change them to standard. Purge the old dimension style out. Insert the new one and finally move them over from standard to the updated dimstyle.

Thanks for the help!

you must remember autocad's Parent>>Child relationship.....

IF  you attempt to insert block, whatever of the NEW same named dimension style into the old drawing, it will take on the old style properties

IF  you insert the OLD file into a new blank file with the NEW same named dimension style, it will take on the new properties.

short answer

insert old file into new file...make sure dimension style has SAME EXACT NAME....all the old dimension will assume the new style
