Pipe material description
« on: September 03, 2017, 03:14:49 PM »
I seem unable to change the pipe material description. Following a youtube vid

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUiH5SJiiWc

Starting @ 4:50 (Create Design>Part Builder>, select Conc pipe>Modify Part Sizes button, select Size Parameters, rt clk, edit, change from Reinforced Concrete Pipe to RCP) I can follow along up to the point of saving the AeccCircularConcretePipe_Imperial.dwg. The pop up says its a read-only file.

Never too far from my Windows 3.1 for dummies book, Windows Explorer claims the file is not read-only, hidden, etc

If C3D is using the file, how can the youtube dude modify it?

Bottom line:

How can I change the Pipe material description from "Reinforced Concrete Pipe" ( waaaaay long) to "RCP"?

Many thanks again!!!

You don't have to modify/create a new pipe catalog to do this.

However IF you do it is advised in HELP file that you copy the pipe catalog folder
to someplace safe, and then set your pipe catalog path to use that one.
Because by default the parts catalog is READ ONLY to keep us from messing it up.

Change the material name/type in your parts list

or you can manually edit the description for any pipe or all pipes in properties window

Thank you for the reply

One prob fixed was that I didn't have rights to the material library file

Mike:
I found the "Network Parts List", but it reads "12 inch Concrete Pipe", not 12" Reinforced Concrete Pipe" so I'm hesitate to change it. Is that where the pipe label comes from?

Many thanks again

Just change it....in the parts list, in the file you need that description...it will NOT affect any other files or data....
The snip I posted is the part description...in the parts list, not part builder......

As you can see you don't have 12" RGRCP; and neither did I until I edited it
