Transfer DWG export settings from 2017 to 2016
« on: July 12, 2017, 10:16:07 am »
Does anyone know of a way to transfer the DWG export settings from a 2017 template to a 2016 one?

We are working for a client, and they don't have a Revit 2016 template, but the project has to be done with 2016 as per the BEP.
All is fine I'm giving them PDFs, but their client has a clause in the contract which requires the sheets be issues as PDF with a DWG attachment, as the Project client doesn't have Revit.

I don't want to have to modify all the settings for a dwg export to suit someone else's set up, for a one-off project where we are only required to provide co-ordination.

Any Ideas?

I'm sure you already know the answer is: Revit is not backwards compatible.

Could you upgrade the project to 2017 just for export to .dwg purposes?

The DWG export settings are stored in a .TXT file. No need to upgrade (unless the formatting of the TXT file has changed from one version to another which I don't think it has).

The default path for the layer settings file is: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 201x

After re-reading it appears I've misunderstood the original question. What I posted was just for the layers, but you want ALL of the settings, in which case upgrading is unfortunately the only way.
