Upgrade model?
« on: May 12, 2017, 04:58:25 am »
Has anyone here had to upgrade their Revit model?
A decision has been made that our models need to be upgraded from Revit 2015 to 2016.  Am I likely to see any issues upgrading an MEP model?  So many components...

Generally no. Allow yourself a few minutes for the process. If you are using central models ensure that no one is working on their local copies. Once the process is complete re-save the central model. I always then shut the model down and reopen.
Remember that there is no going back!
The more external revit models linked in the longer the process will take.

we were doing something similar on my current project, we wanted to go from 2016 to 2017, but with the changes to the text editor meant the Structural guy's font went nuts, and he would have had to re-tag all his layouts and amend his notes, so it wasn't done.

Well I am having the day from hell.  To be able to update the release I need to update the service packs, and I am not having much luck with that.  I can only assume it has stopped responding as it has been "installing" the SP1 for more than 3 hours now.  I have to then install SP2... I just hope I can get this resolved quickly because the structural company has already sent notification that they have uploaded onto the shared server.

This update also addresses issues reported directly to Autodesk and contains the fixes included in Autodesk Revit 2016 Service Pack 1 and 2
2016 service pack 2 contains the updates applied in service pack 1, so you only need to install the latest one

Thank you!  Our IT guy had a 100mb download on our system... double clicked that and within 2 minutes the software had been patched.  Now to see how much the upgrade will mangle my model... its just so damn big :(

Sigh. Still no luck at the model upgrade. I'm hoping we are not the only one who cant upgrade in the given timescale!

Can you post the model? Or send me a PM with a link to download? Are you getting the "data in model is corrupt and needs to manually recovered" message?

The message I am getting is "An unrecoverable error has occurred. The program will now be terminated. All of your data has been recently saved, so there is no need to create recovery files."
