Civil 3D - Corridor: ditch transition
« on: May 03, 2017, 06:49:36 PM »
I have a road: 2 lane - median with ditch - 2 lane
I'm currently using a "Ditch" subassembly.
How can I force the ditch to transition up to flatten out in the median?

The only luck I've ever had was an independent ditch profile and use a slope to elevation link in combo with the ditch section

Dang. I was afraid you were going to say that.
I want a constant ditch depth for the majority of the road. Maybe I can split the region, create a copy of the assembly just replacing the ditch sub with a slope to elevation link combo (as you mentioned), and tie it in that way.

On a similar note, have you ever been able to terminate a median and transition to to a normal lane (2 lanes+median+2 lanes TO lane+lane+lane? Currently I'm just removing that region and just grading it with feature lines to create a final surface - not pretty.

split the region is the way to go.
on you similar note, thats how we do it clean it up via featurelines and subsurfaces, you can get some of it via alignment widenings, but there is always some small transition that wont work.

Well, it's good to know I'm not completely doing it wrong.
Thank you, Chris.
