I like the pdf text conversion thingy - mostly because we sometimes don't get .dwg's from clients to do our drawings. I know right? Who'd have thought that'd be the first stumbling block on an office refurb project?

Selecting objects whilst panning off screen will come in handy too.

But it's not like you could say there's anything inspiring about this new release.

4K monitor support? pfft. We don't even have graphics cards in our machines that are certified to run cad.

If I had to pick a colour for this release, I'd choose beige.

I like the 4K monitor thing, though I doubt everything (and all verticals) is 4K ready. But it's a start.
The conclusion is justified that the initialization of the development of critical subsystem optimizes the probability of success to the development of the technical behavior over a given period.

There's a ton of laptop and tablet users being very vocal about lack of 4k/UHD support.  So it's not like it was not requested.

I saw a blog mention of some behind-the-scenes reorganization of data, which would have far reaching implications.  I suspect quite a bit of work on this release is that type of "foundational" work which will be built on in upcoming releases.

An interesting read, especially the comments:

For some reason all I can think of is Project Quantum. Maybe there's a link to that??

Well, I tried the pdf to text thing on a tender drawing this afternoon.

My results were perhaps as you'd expect from a pdf that was probably not created using autocad.

I had a 20% chance of 'simplex' font being a match. Yay!
68% of the selection was not converted. Boo!

This was attempting to convert one word, from one line of text in an imported pdf.

FAIL  :-(

For the record, it managed to recognise the bottom ring of two lower caste letter 'a' and created an mtext object with two 'o's  rolled on their side.

It works a charm on pdf's I've created from my own autocad drawings, however using this feature on files received from somebody else (the time you need this to work) it doesn't seem to be worth a damn.

Anyone else tried this feature yet?
I'd be interested to know your results.
