AutoCAD LT and add-ons - Limitations?
« on: October 17, 2016, 08:22:02 AM »
I know AutoCAD LT can't utilize LSP, but is it able to use add-ons such as DLLs or custom ARX applications? Just trying to get a better understanding of the limitations of LT.

Okay, so I found this comparison matrix and under DOCUMENTATION AND FILES there aren't any checks next to API, Autodesk Exchange Apps. But I seem to recall something years ago that would allow a user to run LSP within LT. Are there commercially available add ons that will work inside of LT?

Another question... since LT doesn't support LSP, is there a function/arx/whatever similar to ACAD.lsp/ACADDOC.lsp?? Is there a way to customize what happens upon starting/opening a drawing?

Macro's and DIESEL is still supported but beyond that, I would suggest ponying up for a full edition.

...or going with one of the AutoCAD clones out there, that does support lisp and other customization.

There was, but quite frankly, using one of the AutoCAD clones today, is simply a better choice than trying to work around the limitations of LT.
