Microsoft update KB3177725
« on: August 25, 2016, 11:35:10 AM »
So everything I've seen about this update says the fix is to simply uninstall it. Our IT department says it's not that simple. He's a direct quote from our "Head Googler"....

"We are working on this issue but the fix is not that simple, we have been working on the issue with ... for several days.  We have uninstalled it 3 times now for her but because Microsoft considers it a  critical update it keeps redownloading the update every night.  In order to prevent that we need to  see it as a choice after an uninstall so it can be unchecked and disabled.  The problem is that the update is the one that fixes windows update so it doesn’t take 4-12 hrs to detect updates, so as soon as we remove it so we can see it to try to disable it then makes it take over 4 hrs to run the detect updates on a particular machine so that it can be disabled."

The other IT guy in our office had recently set a registry key on my computer to NOT automatically download/install a .NET update so I have a hard time believing that this update is any different.

Has anyone else had any issues with uninstalling the update? I can't believe everyone is just dealing with it and the possibility of losing printed sheets/drawings. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions on how to deal with the "Head Googler" (I think that's his primary source of IT education)  :|

Do you guys have OCE plotters? Our IT says it's a conflict with OCE.

We do but it's an issue with any application you can print from.

After you apply this security update and you print multiple documents in succession, the first two documents may print successfully. However, the third and subsequent documents may not print.
