NCOPY slow?
« on: June 20, 2016, 10:56:28 AM »
Just getting some basic feedback. Why is the NCOPY command slow? Is there a faster routine that can do somewhat of the same thing?

I see no lag in it here. Tried with a block and an XREF.

Wow I have tried it on several other machines here and there is still a 2 second lag time (where its trying to find the object.)

Is it slower with larger files than smaller ones?

What are you copying (types of objects, how many, etc.) and from where (block, XREF (local or network))?

Demand Load Xrefs:
Enabled with Copy
Checked = Retain Changes to Xref layers
Checked = Allow other users to Refedit current drawing

We are using Civil3D 2016. The Xref base files are survey drawings that are 2D (no 3d objects) and your improvement site drawing, that has no 3D Data in it. We are on a 1,000MB LAN, and the drawings are around 2 to 5 MB. Now I have not tried it with vanilla autocad or Civil3d as AutoCAD.

certain you have already done this, yet...

try audit/recover on one or two of the slow files, and see if performance improves.

As it is standard 2d linework for sure nothing civil 3d, no feature lines or survey figures,
one could substitute a MAP query to get your hands on those objects.  (IF they are actual Civil 3d objects FORGET about using query because it (MAP) wont touch them)

It might be the setting for Dynamic UCS. If you have a huge Xref there is a lag when you start a command. But I am not sure if this happens in select mode, I am sure it is in draw mode.

Turn it off to see the difference.
The conclusion is justified that the initialization of the development of critical subsystem optimizes the probability of success to the development of the technical behavior over a given period.
