Remove from Multiple attributes at once?
« on: May 18, 2016, 11:57:27 AM »
See the attached CAD file.

All I need is the Room Name & Number.  I want to remove the '#### SF' from every instance, without having to edit every one.

I looked at the ‘edit attribute’ option, but I don’t see anything in there that would delete this line.

IS there a way to do this to ALL of them at once?

Find works in 2014 (full)  just use "??? SF" for the string to search on, and an empty space as the replacement.

130 odd instances replaced in milliseconds

Edit the block.
Erase the attribute.
Save the block.

To expand on this you have to make sure the wildcard option is checked.

can't you just edit block, delete attribute then ATTSYNC on block?

That was my first thought too but look at how some of the blocks are filled out:

It does work but the problem is that there is at least four different blocks at use for the same thing. Some of the square footages are plain text to complicate matters even more. Find and replace is the fastest solution but my OCD would make me edit the blocks and delete the text entities.

One thing I initially tried was to create 'Junk' Layer and thru the Attribute editor, set the SF line to that 'Junk' layer. I then turn that layer off and set it to 'no print'.

But, my OCD won't let me cheat like that.  (though it does work)

That seems like much more work than find & replace.

Actually after testing, the find & replace it does not do what you want. It leaves the number & only removes the SF.
*EDIT: Using filter '#*SF' works.

Isolate "Roomnumbers layer"->select all ->Quick select->block reference->name->operator=wildcard match->value=BP*->in properties window UNDER ATTRIBUTES,NUMBER delete "varies",
this gets all the blocks sorted. Can do the same for text
