SSM Publishing does not load ltypeshp.shx file
« on: May 13, 2016, 07:44:53 AM »
I have a coworker who when he uses the SSM to publish to PDF with it will not load the ltypeshp.shx file and thus does not print the ZigZag line type correctly.    If he manually plots, the line prints correctly.

Any ideas of where to start looking.

I replaced the file with my copy.  I made sure his paths were correctly pathed.

Plot to PDF from SSM should be using the current plot settings and only changes the plotter to DWG to PDF.pc3. You say plotting manually through DWG to PDF, without making any changes to the plot settings works as expected?

Correct.    I will not be able to test it today due the coworker is gone for the day and I do not have his password.

When SSM is loading the file during the publish command, it gives a warning of not being able to find the shx file.

BTW this is C3D 2015.

I had a user encounter the same problem when we were going through the DGN dictionary problem.

I talked with TedG and he mentioned your suggestion.

Thanks.

Is he using Background publishing?

Also, turn off your screen saver.

He was using Background publishing and I told him to turn it off.  I find it more troubling than benefit but that is my opinion.  A memory hog.   Why do you ask?

What does the screen saver have to do with it? I am curious to know.

I've seen background publishing fail in this same way, because it's using a hidden copy of AutoCAD in the background and this copy, while running, did not contain the same support paths, at least that was our conclusion due to the missing elements.

I noticed when the screensaver came on, it would cancel my publish. I have since turned off my screensaver (just have it turn my monitor off after 5 minutes) and I don't have any problems running publish with SSM.

That is the main reason I told him to turn it off.  Interesting take on the supports not being there in Background mode

I've run into something similar - pay attention to the report at the end of publishing, especially the AutoCAD profile name.  In my experience the second and subsequent publish operations in the same session of AutoCAD will switch to the default AutoCAD profile rather than the one currently in use.  That can mean the CTB/STB, SHX files, etc. may not be available if the search paths are different between the two profiles.
