Civil 3D | Raise/Lower by Reference?
« on: May 03, 2016, 05:17:10 PM »
I feel like I have to be missing something simple... How does one Raise/Lower a Feature Line by SURFACE Reference? :?

As example:

I have a Feature Line that I've graded to be a typical lot line, and want to raise/lower the entire Feature Line by the vertical distance between the start point (front of lot) to my Corridor's Surface (at R/W).

Cheers

it works exactly the opposite of how one thinks that it would....

so one must select the feature line

select command raise lower by reference

then select the point you want to reference...

and then decide whether you are using an elevation difference or grade or slope....

you will get it wrong at least three times....before you get it right

oh, and lastly it must e a surface cogo point if you are trying to reference a surface

it's more fun in bizzaro C3D!

I've decided... Now how do I specify the same point, but at a Surface's elevation?

Is there not a transparent command to specify a point at Surface elevation?

elect point object:
>>
Select objects to raise or lower:
Resuming RAISELOWERFEATURESBYREF command.
Select objects to raise or lower: 1 found, 1 total
Select objects to raise or lower:
Specify point: Distance 132.55',  Grade 1.99,  Slope 50.33:1,  Elevation 1360.00'
Specify grade or [Slope/Difference] <1.99>:
Distance 132.55',  Grade 1.99,  Slope 50.33:1,  Elevation 1360.00'

after using 'po
it gets in a loop asking repeatedly to pick the point...
just hit enter
then the remaining prompts will follow

Apologies for the delayed response - I was unable to get this to work first thing this morning, only to get roped into putting out some fires, before I could even get back to the project I need to submit this afternoon (let alone this thread).

I appreciate the help, and will post back with some screenshot(s), command line output, etc at my soonest convenience.

Cheers

Okay - I wrapped up a few project submittals, and I'm still having trouble with this.

Neither 'PN, nor 'PO work - the command completes without error, but the Feature Line is never elevated - the only thing that is working is 'POS.

I've recorded a short Jing video clip to try and help clarify; I'm hoping that you see where I am going wrong.

If I specify the Difference command option, why is the difference (which is already acknowledged in the command line output!) not being applied automagically, instead of prompting me to manually enter same - only to have that manual input doubled? :-o

are you certain it is a COGO point you are attempting to reference?

SET a NEW ONE just to be sure...
