ADT 2006 Layer Standards and Key Styles

Anyone figured out how to set these up so that I can use my layers and not a predefined layer standard?

Will,

I've been able to set up ADT '06 so that when I use the wall tool it inserts the walls on my layers and not the AIA guidelines. Is this what you are looking for?

you must first create your own layer key

Command: aecstylemanager
Select 'Multi-Purpose Objects' folder
Highlight 'Layer Key Styles'

Now in here it should either be blank or have something to the effect of AIA(256). You'll want to:
Right Click -> New

Give your Layer Key a name.

Right Click on that new key and click Edit.
Select the "keys" tab and start editing.

once this is done purge any other layer keys out of this particular drawing.
?right click ont he item 'purge'.

I then purged the entire dwg with the regular purge command and save it here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\ADT 2006\enu\Layers

Next step.

Command: Units
Tab: Layering
at the top it should have something to the effect of
Layer Standards/Key File to Auto-import:
Click the three dots and navigate to where you saved the dwg from above

Right below that area should be another box titled:
Layer Key Style:

Load your Particicular Key Style.

I then Checked the following boxes:
Always import layer key style when first used in drawing,
Immediate and independent layer on/off controls of display componets, (not sure what that does but checked it anyway) and lastly
Save as default.

Click Apply then okay.

Now any Dwg that you open and try to insert a wall into will insert the wall onto A-wall (or whatever the AIA Guideline is).  if you notice this undo then type:
Command: Units
Tab: Layering
Check to make sure your file is located in the top box. then check to make sure the correct Key Style is in the next one.
Check the Three boxes like above (apply)(ok). then try to insert your wall again.

Hopefully this helps, If you need anymore claification let me know.
