(ssget "_:E") Is it a bug ?
« on: December 06, 2015, 01:29:15 PM »
Why is it, that when you use (ssget "_:E"), the little selection window appear ?

Isn't it supposed to select everything under the aperture ?

Kind of defeat the purpose!

Can't test beyond 2006 but I think it is intended to suppress 2 click selection window. User still needs to click once.
Or did I misunderstand the question?

     *  (ssget "_:S") - selecting a single object
    * (ssget "_:E") - selecting all objects crossing the selection box (can be also combined to e.g. (ssget "_:E:S")
    * (ssget "_:N") - selecting objects including nested/child objects - e.g. with block references
    * (ssget "_:D") - duplicate objects counted separately (2x selected object = 2 selections)
    * (ssget "_:L") - stops users from selecting objects on locked layers
    * (ssget "_:P") - rejects selection of viewports
    * (ssget "+.") - allows window selection even in the single selection mode - (ssget "+.:E:S") (may not work in localized versions)
    * (ssget pt) - acts like (nentselp pt)

Try turning off Selection Cycling (Ctrl+W)

Lee,

Of course If we turn off selection cycling with (setvar 'SELECTIONCYCLING 0)
or (Ctrl+W), it will work.

But my point is the command is supposed to select everything within the aperture,
so I believe "Selection Cycling" should not come in.

Either it is an oversight from adesk or the help file is somewhat fuzzy.

Does Briscad has the same behaviour ?

Hopefully  Roy or Bruce will chime in.

ymg,

Bricscad selects all the objects under the cursor without displaying a dialog.

Thanks Daniel,

Then it's an oversight from Adesk.
