Can't find 50 Blocks
« on: October 29, 2015, 10:44:24 AM »
Attached is a Camera Block that when inserted into a 'clean' CAD File, then run the Purge command with 'list' window open, it purges FIFTY Blocks!!  If I open the block itself, the 50 aren't there.

Now when I try to identify those blocks, without purging, I can't find them.

Do you have any idea what is happening?

too many anonymous blocks...you will need to rename them to purge them

What the %&^$# are these darn things!?  How can I get rid of them if I can't purge them?

I have been pecking away at these for over an hour. I even made new blocks.

they most often come from users who enjoy the use of copyyclip/pasteclip without understanding what it's real impact on their drawing files actually is...

Bunch of anonymous blocks...

Irony being, autocad hates then yet it allows them to be created...  you RENAME them  block rename *51 to crap01  etc then they can be purged

I think the use of wild cards will help you renaming.

My 2013LT won't let me rename those blocks.

I tried both the 'Rename' and '-Rename' commands with no success.

I did remake this simple block a couple of times, copycliping out of the Block editor into a new dwg and all of the garbage came with it, so I will have to make it from scratch.

I know I could remake it pretty easily, by posting this, I was hoping to learn what the garbage is, why it is there so I don't do it again and lastly, how to get rid of it.

Thanks for the replies folks.

The garbage is strong with this one...

I even did a single wblock...and still 2(two) of the anoying anonymous blocks came along for the ride.

Wblock the drawing over itself.

Interesting...as stated above a simple wblock still left two anonymous blocks.

I am still left with the question of what causes this?

Though it has been a few years ago, it was I that created these very simple blocks. I did nothing fancy. Could it be the adding of the wipeout at a later date to the original block?

The block just seems too simple to create this issue. But, obviously something did.

Reason in your case is Dgn linestyles, they fixed it in 2015 or 2016 where it will purged orphaned data.

I ran code that stripped the beginning * and you see what they are and look like symbols inside of a linetype
