Edit a Text Style?
« on: May 21, 2015, 01:16:53 PM »
Okay, I have been looking for this setting, preferably for MTEXT. It is bold everywhere I put it and I can't get rid of it. Other than that, I do not want to change the text style. I could create a new one but it should be easier to just adjust my present one. I have looked and looked and I am missing something obvious...again... :crazy2:

FYI, I want to edit the text style permanently in a template drawing.

TIA

Try clicking inside highlight the text then right-click and choose remove formatting.

Or a quick explode will remove also if it formatting.

That's what I have been doing. I don't want to have to do it every drawing, every text object.

So, the text has been modified to override the style settings?

I have a LISP, STPMtext, that removes the overrides.

Not sure, I haven't heard of a STYLE command...? Might be what I'm looking for...

Yup, ...I feel sorta dumb right now.  :uglystupid2: Fontstyle was set to Bold.

I might as well set up my own text style. I change it and it changes back. <sigh> Maybe it's only changing it per drawing? And then I have to go back and fix it.

Come to think of it, maybe your LISP is exactly what I need...

One of the things I want to fix, though, is it says text height says 0" in style but it prints just fine and it's NOT annotative. I'm annoyed by that. I want to print it at 3/32", not 1/8".

Don't get me wrong, I can "play" with text all day long but I don't want to have to any more.

I like the idea of annotative text, but I ran into a problem with it earlier and now I can't remember what it is.

So yeah, I guess I have a tutorial or two in front of me.

If changing the text style did what you wanted, then the style isn't overridden in the MText.

Yes, the style is stored in each .dwg.

however...one can set up a brand new file

create text styles with all the settings one desires...

and then through the MAGIC of the Parent Child relationship of drawings

One inserts the file with the *BAD* settings in it - it then inherits the new $GOOD$ settings

and then one wblocks it out to the wen and improved version of it's former self.

*CAD Wizard hat and robe is optional for this operation to work*

So do I have to start a template drawing from scratch in order to set the text up how I want it?

i.e.a default text style:

Height
Annotative or not
Style Type
etc.

Oh, I see. I had to back up and re-read.

Darn.

Probably the easiest way to impose your will on multiple files.

Wait a minute...

If I do that, will it hit every file ? I just want to adjust the ones I work on. I want to be able to open old drawings WITHOUT changing them.

No longer the problem.  :-D It was bold in a text leader. I just told it to un-bold. Problem is, the applied text style is bold so it affects all text. I can un-bold it in each place but I want to un-bold it overall.
