Well, started a new position this week with a new company and my new computer system has been ordered and is on it's way. In the mean time I'm using an older system with ACAD LT on it.

Question: Is there a way to burst attributes/blocks like in regular AutoCAD? I've looked through the menus and see nothing. This was installed no add-ons.

Any ideas  :?

What version?

I know that AutoCAD LT2000 doesn’t have the burst option.... if its not located in the help files then its not included. What does burst do anyway?

Whoa there now hold on. Before you go around bursting block with attributes ESPECIALLY for a new company, you might just want to find out why they are there.  Cuz' I'm telling you, you come in here and burst just one, I'll have security escort you to the parking lot with your last check.

It explodes attributes and converts them to text objects and it will also explode the block.

Calm down Randy. This company has no standards/blocks/layering system/etc. and all I am doing at the moment are some as builts but the way they want them done I'm changing colors but I can't change colors on come of the block/attributes to do it. Thats why I wanted a burst so I could explode it without losing the info. My tatics will change one I get my standard computer with R2004 and I will create a nice setup but I won't be in LT.

Thats why I wanted to do it.

BTW I get to start an entire new CAD Dept. with them which is real exciting becasue I already have 2 people in mind to bring aboard once we're ready :D

REFEDIT will redefine every insertion of the block in that file without bursting. Then wblock it and batch script the repair of all the other files.  

If the color of the element is BYLAYER (which it should be) Changing the color of that layer in the LAYER dialog box will fix it without bursting.  An even simpler batch script to fix the rest.

BURST is a very bad word around here, it's use is disallowed.. PERIOD.

I typically never use burst either but no they are not bylayer but bycolor so changing layer color does no good. Oh well, appreciate the input

I knew that much BUT, my LT has no refedit. I was hoping those that use LT all the time might know since I surely do not :?

Craig, you should be able to insert a working block, create a line starting at the insertion point, explode the block, change the attributes to reflect "bylayer" or "byblock" or whatever setting it is you need. Then redefine the block using the new attributes and same geometry. Finally after redefining the block, simply use ATTSYNC to make them all the same.

Congratulations on the new job!  That sounds really interesting!  Actually, that's almost my dream job...It would be nice to start a CAD department from the ground up.  The best of luck to you!
