I need a good reference book. Mostly for the technical aspects of drawing. You know, stuff not easily found on the internet. I think this one looks good...any opinions or suggesstions?

http://www.amazon.com/Engineering-Drawing-Design-David-Madsen/dp/1111309574/ref=sr_1_12?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1421096193&sr=1-12&keywords=drafting+books

I was told not to buy anything related to this job but I want to own this book and a couple of others.

"A Manual of Engineering Drawing for Students and Draftsmen"  Thomas W. French, 2nd Ed (c) 1918 is on Google Books.  An interesting read for background in the trade.

Your choice looks like a good one.
Here's another suggestion of a book I had in college.
"Engineering Drawing And Design" Fifth Edition Cecil Jensen & Jay Helsel

http://www.thriftbooks.com/w/fundamentals-of-engineering-drawing-and-design-engineering-drawing_cecil-howard-jensen/1435344/?isbn=0028018001&mkwid=YZcxxbYp|dc&pcrid=63635716512&gclid=CjwKEAiAodOlBRDCjr-UlJDjtVUSJABR7fxySy2Sh3S-fV2mcbbIsFDDO-JZjaZ8d1wMtbllBXXgiBoC9k3w_wcB

I actually have this book still.
It starts with the basics and touches on lots of disciplines like mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural etc.
A good reference in my opinion.

The local Goodwill bookstores have lately had a number of drafting texts show up on their shelves.  End of semester maybe...

Tried downloading, the last nested file was an EXE buried in ZIPs. Too dangerous to try for me..
