Direction of linetype
« on: November 05, 2014, 10:52:42 AM »
Been away from Acad for awhile so this maybe something new:

Base file from a survey firm has the overhead elec (with "OHE" in the linetype) in segments, some are correct from the sheet view, some 180 out. It would seem the direction of the line dictates which way the OHE shows, not the direction of drawing the line (the good ole days, bottom to top or top to bottom). If I draw a new line slightly northeast its one direction, slightly northwest the LT is 180 out. I cant even rotate the bad line 180, its unchanged.

How can I override this?
Thxs!

attempt

A) reverse direction of polyline IF it is not a polyline make it one

B) ensure txt style is not set to orient to view

my "revpoly.lsp" will not work on a open pl (dont remember that being a problem before.....)
My Format>Text Style doesn't have an orient to view (v2013), only font, size, effects, upside down, backwards, vertical......

It appears that this linetype was created with the "U=0" in the line file.
The line is doing exactly as it was programmed to do, the only way to get around this is to reassign the linetype that does not have this variable in the line file.

Upright format:
*OVERHEAD ELECTRIC 2,Overhead Electric 2 -----OHE-----OHE-----OHE-----OHE--
A,.5,-.07,["OHE",STANDARD,S=.08,U=0,Y=-0.04],-.3

Normal format:
*OVERHEAD ELECTRIC 2,Overhead Electric 2 -----OHE-----OHE-----OHE-----OHE--
A,.5,-.07,["OHE",STANDARD,S=.08,Y=-0.04],-.3

This will help define the above a little more: http://docs.autodesk.com/CIV3D/2013/ENU/filesACD/GUID-AF0613E6-5C8B-47F0-800C-8B2524BF2015.htm

I'll be darned.....

Not to beat the horse to death but I always thought LT definations came from the support files (hard drive or network). How did that LT load when it came from another firm?

Apologies if the answer is in the link. Back on the clock.

Thxs All!!

After the linetype is brought into a dwg or dwt file, it is stored in the file so it can be used over again.
A purge can get rid of it, if it's not being used of course.
