Civil3d to topcon 3doffice
« on: June 27, 2014, 10:23:46 AM »
Hi,

I am a jr civil engineering technologist and I have been tasked with learning how to convert Civil3d file into Topcon 3d office. Does anyone have experience in this?  Is this going to be a daunting task? and are there any free tutorials anybody knows about?

I will verify; however from C3D one should be able to export landXML and then import those files
directly into T3D Office.
And or from the survey side create figures and export them as FBK files for T3D Office

the alignments it wants as Land XML
the surfaces it may take them as XML, however the manual seems to indicate it wants
a TIN for the surface however that is from a 2006 version of the manual found online.

So alignments XML
surfaces maybe XML - or you may need to extract the triangles and export using DXFOUT
feature lines - (from other students) need to be exported as 3d lines (EXPORT to AUTOCAD AKA AECOBJEXPLODE)

As topcon has their onlind help section Password Locked, I am restricted from searching further. This seams to be a stupid choice to me on their part.

Yeah, AutoCAD is industry standard at least where I am.  Their programs should be up to date with transferring information.

I got my points in and my surfaces, however the surface is out of scale.
