I've scrolled through the list of available properties and I cannot find 'Material'. I am trying to create a crossing pipe style for my cross sections to label size and material, but material is nowhere to be found.

As material is technically an "optional" property, one can not even use it the way you think you should be able to.

I've taken to using with various success

1+... Grrr....

FWIW - we ended up simply creating a different pipe label style for each material (where the material string was hard-coded, just like you would " ' " or " LF ", etc.)

wtf
That makes lots of sense. You can reference the material and plan and profile, but not in cross sections.

I was looking at description and pipe family name. I need to just redo the pipe family names to be 18" RCP instead of 18 in concrete pipe. I just never bothered with them because you just set RCP (or whatever material) in the material field.

just wait until you get into pressure pipes and the silly excrement you need to deal with there!

Notably the part content creation is UNSUPPORTED by autodesk (what are we paying subscription for again?)

Ugh.
I'm starting to wonder myself.
