Civil 3D - Record Plats - easy way to place corners
« on: March 28, 2014, 12:23:20 PM »
I'm in the process of creating a record plat, and while I was going around placing my set monumentation on the lot corners, I thought about the fact that I could just use a label style with blocks (set nail, rebar, or cm) placed on the start & end of the segment. Just thought I'd share. If you see an adverse side to this, please say something.

Label style is fine...although  I might suggest using Points instead for the simple purpose of
being able to get that information in a nice neat table.

While I don't have a use for tables, in this regard, points would have worked just fine. I'm not a big fan of creating points that aren't actually surveyed points, but in this situation, it wouldn't have mattered. I guess I just had my label style blinders on. :ugly: Thanks, Michael.
Granted, it was pretty cool applying the label style to all my segments, and I suddenly had all my interior lots monumented.

I must ask; if the lot corner (point) isn't a surveyed point, what is?

And at some time those points (corners) will have to be set.

Point, Set, and Match!   ;-)

The more I think about it, the more you are correct. Plus, I'll need those corners to be points anyway for the field crew to set when construction is complete.
Thank you, Michael. I'm glad I posted this and didn't spend much time on it.
Funny how good an idea can seem until you actually discuss it with someone.
