[2013] Civil 3D project phases
« on: February 04, 2013, 01:12:55 PM »
What's the recommened workflow for dealing with project phases?  Should you link in the various pipe networks and set them to an "existing pipe" style then model the new pipes?  And how would you handle demolition of a pipe segment?  With another pipe style?

First, I would incorporate the project phase into your naming convention for the Pipe Networks.

If you are able to use the proposed pipes from one phase in another phase as existing, then do so as you've described.

If, however, you need to modify a copy of said prior phase pipe network(s), then consider exporting to LandXML, and importing into a separate Civil 3D Project, making the necessary revisions in the applicable phase of work.

I'm assuming you are talking about working on multiple phases at one time, rather than completing one phase than moving onto another?  I'm also interested.

Yes, the first one - multiple phases at one time.

name the pipe networks...keep data in seperate phase specific files and use data shortcuts, and styles

That's what I figured.  Thanks!
