Right angle dimension display!!
« on: January 19, 2013, 05:15:15 AM »
Can AutoCAD (2013) display right angle dimensions alone in the traditional way? Any way to customize the DIMSTYLE ??

Not that I'm aware of...

Any particular reason you need this?

I'm not aware of a dedicated dimension like this but I like to keep things I use off to the side of drawings that I use often.  I simply put these in to whatever drawing I'm working on and drag them over when I need them.  They are already on the correct layer so it saves quite a bit of time.

I'd be interested.  I've fallen away from using that efficient, standardized, and widely understood symbol in favor of the larger, bulkier dimension.  I'd mostly forgot about it because Autocad had changed my drafting habits, tbh.

This particular client wants to show that the brace is running at 45 Degrees by using this display method. I used AutoCAD's normal angular dimension, just to be told that it is improper to show a right angle this way!! Any Ideas??

Couldn't you modify the dim style to exclude the extension lines / arrow, and keep text oriented 0? Just a thought.... haven't tried it.... not sure how to solve the right-angle symbol thingy though

Isn't it just a symbol?
Can you create a block and insert it on the vertex/
