Partial CUI files do not stay loaded
« on: August 06, 2011, 04:17:05 PM »
New install of ACAD 2012.
64 bit Win 7

Load Partial CUIs w/ CUILOAD

Close ACAD

Reopen ACAD

Partial CUIs not loaded.

 :?

Once loaded, stay loaded in ACAD 2011 on the same machine.

What am I doing wrong?

you need to check the Setting>>Save Changes to Workspace
by clicking the Workspace Icon lower right>>>Select Option>>Workspace Settings...
Note that the default is to Discard changes to the Workspace
so autocad thinks your changes are accidental and throws them out when you restart.

OR
Load the Partial CUIs and select the option to Save the Workspace As...

OR
Alternately Create your own CUI, wherein the partial CUIs will be part of and load when you switch to that workspace.

Thanks for jogging my memory on the Workspace setting.

But,

I changed that & still no workie.  :(

Had already tried saving as a new workspace, which doesn't work either.

Product is not yet activated (waiting for activation code).

Maybe a limitation of unactivated product(?)

I dunno.

Thx for your help.

then you should create your own workspace, and verify the path to the partials is in you files paths settings if they are not in the default folder location

Partial CUI(x)s are not part of a workspace.

I think I ran into this situation before with 2011 - are the partial CUI files in your AutoCAD search path?  If not, then the partial-load at start-up won't be able to find them and they should show up as "unresolved" in the CUI dialog.  Its possible you have this set up already under 2011 so you don't see the problem.
If you are going to fly by the seat of your pants, expect friction burns.

   catch (notResponsible)

   finally
      {MasterBasics;}

Perhaps I used the wrong terminology; however Partial CUI, are apart of the Larger CUI, that a workspace may pull components from them.

hermanm,

I think that perhaps you don't have permissions to write to your main menu. Partial menu's that have to load are stored in this main menu.
If the file/folder of the main menu is read-only, or if you made your main also the enterprise menu then it's inpossible to save your changes, so it won't be remebered the next time you'll start AutoCAD.

verify the path to the partials is in you files paths settings if they are not in the default folder location

This appears to be one of two keys...

Key 1: Workspace Settings >>Save Changes to workspace

Key 2: Add paths to cui files to files path

NOW CUILOAD the partial CUIs.

Load will now be permanent.

Seems odd to me, but:

it appears that once you have defined the workspace as above, you can create a new workspace which does not include the pathing for the partial CUIs, but if they are (permanently) loaded when the workspace is created, they will come along for the ride.

@ dgorsman:

I encountered this in 2011 also, but forgot what I had to do to fix it. :?

Thanks, folks.  :-)

I've had the same problem w/ unactivated cads in the past.

I've had the same problem w/ unactivated cads in the past.
As one can see the solution was in paths not being set; a non activated version (of an Autodesk product) is in no way responsible for the described behavior. I can attest to this going all the way back to the 2004 release.  As I frequently run the product in DEMO mode or have others do the same during training sessions.  I have yet to discover any loss of functionality in doing so, other that what already doesn't work.
