hey we are being told to retreive some architectural drawings from an ftp site but i've never done this and the address is unclear. it reads as follows:

type in ftp.lsm.com <file://ftp.lsm.com>  <ftp://ftp.lsm.com <ftp://ftp.com>

i've tried all sorts of variations but nothing is working, can anybody help me?

Did they give a user name to login with? Are you sure of the address?

Why doesn't that suprise me ...........

If you're going to do any real ftp stuff you might want to get a real ftp program. Filezilla works really well.

Mark,
Could you elaborate on the makings of an FTP site? I suggested that our company come up with one due to the fact that our area suffers from inclement weather and a FTP site could allow some of us to work from home during those times.

I use vsftp here on theswamp. It's easy to configure and very secure. Do you know what OS is on your server(s)?

You need to have the logginname and password....

so try this by replacing the LOGGINNAME and PASSWORD with yours..

ftp://LOGINNAME:PASSWORD@ftp://www.lsm.com/
