(MicroStation) Invalid Tags
« on: June 18, 2010, 07:29:03 AM »
 :pissed:

I'm doing a favour for another office, and I have to amend some Microstation drawings.

The drawing sheets have Tags for their titles/revisions etc, and on ONE of the 12 drawings I have an Invalid Tag error when trying to change the Rev details. Is there anyway I can edit the tags?

This is in V8 (and if it makes any difference - Projectwise)
Many thanks in advance
T :)
Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

I would try ATTEDIT first....
and then perhaps, BEDIT...

you might also search out a routine by LeeMac that would do all those title block updates for you...

ok..looks like from this page: http://www.la-solutions.co.uk/content/MVBA/MVBA-TagDataOverview.htm

Tag Sets
Because Tag elements can store & display different data types, their definition is stored in a Tag Set. You define and review Tag Set definitions through the MicroStation menu Element|Tags|Define, which opens the Tag Sets dialog ...that should let you edit the tag.

If that doesn't help, how about post an exact copy of the error message?

I wonder if that Tag Set is part of one of your SEED Files, in such case inserting the Bad file into a Good one with the Tag Set intact should fix it....IIRC

In Microstation, someone attached a tagset to a drawing.

Drawing frames are referenced into the drawing, so the tagset is neither block or cell.... just a tagset (as far as my little brain can see)

All the other drawings in this set, I have been able to edit the tag with no issues at all, but this one drawing is giving me too much grief :(

Anyways, hometime.... I'll pick this up again on Monday :)

what is the exact error? [screen capture that monster will ya?]

And I've sorted Tag Sets vs Enter Data Fields for cells, on my side...and you might be able to use one of the working files(no error) as a SEED to fix the bad.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this.

I ended up getting in touch with the company Microstation Guru before I left, and when I came back on Monday, all had been sorted.

Its a shame they didnt tell me what they'd done. (If I get chance to ask, I'll ask and post the solution here)
