To many slope arrows!
« on: April 20, 2010, 02:29:04 PM »
Good afternoon everyone!  Question, quick and dirty:

When I turn on my slope arrows in my surface, I get WAY to many arrows, is there a way to change the density of the arrows?

then fewer 3d faces you will need...

see help:

Slope Arrows

Used for slope direction analysis. Places a slope directional arrow at each triangle centroid. Arrow color is based on the color assigned to a slope range (similar to slope analysis).

if this is more for review/output...where having the arrows linked to the model is NOT important then the following is suggested:

Create and Style the surface such that slope arrows are shown as needed.....
Extract those arrows from the terrain model
Change the Surface style to NOT show arrows
give the file to the receptionist, and have her DELETE what look like extra arrows.....or teach one of those barn cats to click a mouse ;)

I was hoping you'd have a better solution, Michael...

This has something that has ALWAYS confused me about the slope arrow display.  One arrow for each TIN triangle just seems so wrong on so many levels...  I had hoped there was simply a hidden setting in there somewhere I couldn't find.

But that's C3D.  Some things are awesome, some things leave you wondering "What were they thinking...?"   :?

It was that....or go on a rant...and I figured that wouldn't do any good....so I leave that to others.
