Rotated Dims?
« on: April 19, 2010, 01:17:13 PM »
Using Windows XP Pro & autocad mechanical 2010.
When using the properties dialog window on dimensions, all our dims are listed as "ROTATED dimensions. I always thought that dimensions aligned with the "X" oy "Y" plane were considered just "LINEAR" dimensions. I draw a line using ortho then dinension using endpoints and the dim lists as a "ROTATED" diim.
Is this normal or do I need to worry about other issues within my drawings? What might those issues be?

It's either rotated or aligned.  Either the dimension's extension lines are at a fixed angle (ROTATED DIM) or the extension lines are perpendicular to the points the dimension is created from (ALIGNED DIM)  Then there's ORDINATE but that's another critter.

AFAIK there is no "LINEAR DIMENSION" type... linear dim is just a specific type of a ROTATED DIM.  That's how it's been since at least 2006 in Autocad.  I don't think I really paid attention before then.
