The attached .dwg includes a profile view style that accomplishes what you're trying for. I leveraged the Top Axis Major Ticks to get the grid lines that you need - and avoids having to stack profile views.

The .pdf shows the result.

This will work for profiles that all have the same height - for example sets of profiles that are all 6, 7, 8, etc. major grids tall. You could easily have styles for the different heights you may have in the same drawing.

All I can say is I am at home right now. It's almost 10:00 pm and I wish I were at work so I could download and check out that dwg! Can't wait to go back to work. I'm off Monday so I have to wait til Tuesday.

THANK YOU!!!

Of course the big question I have, and likely Mike too, is why didn't I think of that?!

There is no box.

It's called 'target lock' sometimes we get too focused on the outcome, as to consider all methods to achieve that end state.
It really never crossed my mind to re purpose those top grid ticks in that manner.

This also validates why I strongly suggest that whenever users are setting up their styles and standards that they always work as a team.

Although now that I'm at work looking at my style I am unable to achieve the same end. And I am unable to look at the sample file as I'm on '08. If I back-convert using TrueView will the styles come with?

what he did was utilize the top grid ticks/labels with a total grid hieght in inches...to get them to appear at the bottom of the grid
that is why Jason said he had multiple styles to hadle various Hiegths of Profile Views

I didn't think it would back-convert....

Either I'm blind or '08 doesn't have the option to give the ticks a negative offset. I can change the position of the anchor and I can change the tick length, but it won't let me give a negative value.

Sorry about the format - I automatically set it up in 2010.

These screenshots show the Profile View settings - they're pretty straight forward.

OK I've got it working now. When I made changes the display showed my 10' minor grid so I didn't see the top major ticks, but in a print preview it appears correctly. Hopefully when I actually print it I will get the same result.

Thanks again!

You can't change the draw order of profile view objects can you?

No - you can't change the draw order.

You'd have to rely on your plot style of the Top Axis Major Ticks to "blot out" the major grid line beneath it. Looked like you were going to have the 20-ft interval grids (made with the ticks) much darker than the 10-ft grids.

It was displaying correctly on my screen, but might be working differently on yours.

Actually it seems the answer is YES...only I do not know if it will hold, and or if you are willinng to

Hold Down the CTRL Key+Select the Grid Lines you want to Draw Order on.

Sadly "Select Similar" does not function in this  mode
