How do I get the section views to display the full section as opposed to just the top of surface?

How do I get the section views to display the full section as opposed to just the top of surface?

go back to your sample line group, and tell it to sample MORE sources

however first you may need or want to go into your corridor parameters, and create a surface for each link in your assemblies you want to appear in your sections when you create them, or if created in the dynamic mode; you sample MORE Sources with the sample line group properties, then the links, and shapes will appear in section. The graphical display of all of the above is controlled by the Code Set Style being applied to the assembly/corridor.

Although you will discover that you DO NOT want to see all of these surfaces from the corridor links in section, you really want to see ONLY the corridor objects.  Otherwise you will see a lot of surfaces doing things they should NOT be doing in those sections, UNLESS you add a lot of break lines and boundaries to same.  This is do to the feature lines, and link codes being joined across the roadway section.

I've created a surface for each link. I've sampled all of said surfaces in the sample line group. It still is only displaying the top. I'm having a hard time with this. I'm so out of practice with Civil 3d.

To resample section sources

Click  Sections menu   Edit Sample Lines. At the Command prompt, enter EditSampleLine.
The cursor changes to pick mode. You are prompted to select a sample line. Note that the Edit Sample Line dialog box and Sample Line Tools toolbar are both displayed.

Click a sample line for which to resample sections.
On the Sample Line Tools toolbar, click  to resample section sources.
In the Section Sources dialog box, do one or more of the following:
Select a source in the Available Sources field and click Add >> to add it to the Sampled Sources field.
Select a source in the Sampled Sources field and click Remove << to remove it From the Available Sources field.
In the Section Sources dialog box, click OK.

I added the new surfaces under "section surfaces", yet they aren't showing in the section views for some reason. I cain't figure it out yet.

time to Delete your Sample Line Group, and Start over....this time you should have all of the surfaces available to chose from, and assign the proper styles to...then when you place you section views (again) they should all be there

however I'm telling you now, and before, that you really do NOT want all of those surfaces to show up in the section views....even after you get them to show up....you will be much happier with seeing only the corridor shapes and links....trust me...

No reason to be angry...calm down, take a walk outside.

I'll give you a call a little bit later....it will all be OK.

Sorry. Stress levels are a little higher than normal. Showing the top will suffice for now, but down the road I will want to see the rest of the pertinent data.

Now on to another question... Meet me at the main drag.

I was away from this for a while and now I'm back. Tell me more about the Code Set Styles. It appears that this should be displaying in my sections, but it isn't. I've spent little time with code sets at all.

I have applied the code set style in the assembly as well as the corridor, but it doesn't show in the actual cross section views. Having a difficult time locating the issue.

Well....

when YOU tell the software to NOT display your sections

and then it DOESN'T display them why do you think there is somethign wrong???

You have set up your section view styles to NOT DRAW your corridor sections....and so they do not show up....just like you  asked it too not show them to you...

your best course may be to recreate your sample line group, and your section view(s) for same.
