It's a simple yes or no...


No, I haven't really looked into using the action recorder myself.  Whenever I look to automate actions, I typically turn to a more programatic approach.  Macros/LISP can go a long way.

I think action recorder was geared more towards the people who don't have the knowledge/resources/ability to take that route.

Didn't it make it's debut in AutoCAD 2009?

I use it for setting up viewports, very handy.
