(C3D '09)Arc length between two points
« on: February 05, 2009, 10:20:28 AM »
Looking at the image below; Is there a way to measure that "Arc Length" in C3D '09? I couldn't find a way to do it so I wrote an app in AutoLISP but I'm still curious.

one could label it...

Dimension it....

or....should it be a single arc segment the Inquiry Tool would work...

I would probably stick a label on it....

It's not a single segment.

Most of the time, I have arcs already labeled.

But occasionally I've drawn a "temporary" arc segment over the area I want to ID, and ID the arc segment to get the arc length.  Then I delete the "temporary" arc.

I suppose I should add this ability to the Sincpac-C3D.  Maybe a PTARC command, to go along with the PTINV and PTANG commands...

I don't use something like this often but it sure saves time when I do.

Are the two curves single segments? If so I'd like to see how you did that. :)

Well, as they say, "you learn something new every day"!

Code: [Select]
Command: _dimarc
Select arc or polyline arc segment:
Specify arc length dimension location, or [Mtext/Text/Angle/Partial]: p ( not exactly what I wanted but ... )
Specify first point for arc length dimension:
Specify second point for arc length dimension:

The autolisp app I wrote is attached.

I'd like to start tomorrow but my employer doesn't. *sigh* Training is a major problem here, our budget is very slim at the moment. But yeah, I'd like to take some of your courses Michael.

Slim, I can work with
NONE would be a big problem.

I trust they want more productivity and profits though don't they?

There is a group somewhere in America right now, coordinating with their local technical college to bring me to them to keep the cost down.
