(AutoCAD LT) Crosshair Color?
« on: January 28, 2009, 10:35:38 AM »
I'm not sure if this is an LT only problem, but that is what I use....

I have my crosshairs color set at yellow when in PSpace and Red when in MSpace.

For some reason, it keeps switching to yellow in both. When I reset it back, it goes along for awhile then all of a sudden, I notice that the color has changed to yellow again.

Any ideas why it keeps doing this?

OK, from this document, you do have a profile, however being the LT form of autocad.....

ID: TS1072526

Applies to:
AutoCAD LT® 2009
AutoCAD LT® 2008

Issue

You want to turn off the plot warning that is displayed when the printer is not configured in the system.

Solution

To prevent the plot warning from being displayed, you can create a DWORD-value key in the Windows Registry named PLQUIET and set its value to 1. Follow these steps:

Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter regedit
In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT\R14\ACADLT-7001:409\Profiles\<<Unnamed Profile>>\General

Note: The values "R14" and "ACADLT-7001:409" will vary according to the product version and language. This path is for AutoCAD® LT 2009, English version.

Create a new subkey named "PLQUIET" under the General key by clicking Edit menu > New > DWORD Value.
Double-click the PLQUIET key.
Enter 1 in the Value Data box and then click OK.
Close the Registry Editor.
Warning! Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

So ..... show me what your current desktop Icon shortcut is set to....

I don't get it... What does this have to do with Crosshair color or Profile?

I did a search in LT's help file for 'save profile' and don't see anything about saving a profile. I don't even see the word profile.

FYI, I think LT does not give the user access to his profile, but as it is an autocad product it does have one, and only one the "unnamed profile".  Its not like full where you can switch profiles.

Is your install very vanilla?
Do any other settings reset on occasion?

If so check if you have any registry cleaners that run (I think norton can cause this), they sometimes "clean" the registry and blow out your settings.  Highly annoying.

I think what he's getting at is that even though LT may not have "profiles" like it's bigger, cooler older brother does, it still saves data to the registry in a big-brother-profiley-kind-of-way.  Although, I don't know what the shortcut would show.

Yeah, I don't know what profiles would have to do with it either... I don't believe LT supports Profiles.

I don't know what else it could be either, though.  Is the crosshair the only colour that is acting a little wonky?

'Knock on wood' - It's the only thing that is giving me a problem - and it is a VERY SMALL problem, more annoying than anything else.

I thought if it was an easy fix....

Thanks for the responses,

technically LT doesn't support 'profiles' however it still uses one.

which is why I posted the document to back up that theory.....

Craig, should be able to look at the profile information with and with out the crosshairs being too his desire....
and then LATER outside of LT edit said registry key to be his default within the UNNAMED profile LT uses....
