PROBLEMS WITH ACAD 2005
« on: September 21, 2004, 07:20:30 AM »
Have any of you guys had problems with AutoCAD, like it crashing whilst in layer dialouge ??

We are about to purchase some upgrades, but are hearing bad things about 2005.

Which operating system does it work best with?

thanks.

Running it on win2000 and have no problems with it. The layer dialog takes considerably longer to load first time than on 2004 but I haven't experienced crashes.
Even the 3DOrbit crash that occurred frequently with the predecessors seems to be gone. Can't say anything (technically) bad about 2005 - yet!

I have land desktop 2005, it crashes pretty much on a daily basis. I don't lose any data, normally, but it can be frustrating when you're trying to get a job out. The other thing that bothers me is the extra proccesses that run in the background.  On the positive side, the tables are fantastic, as are the fields in mtext.

I am using 2005 on windows XP with SP2.  It seems to work fine I haven't had any crashes due to just Vanilla CAD alone.
With some of my lisps and add-ons it may crash, but that is due to code errors in the lisp or the wrong version of the programme being used.

I would recommend upgrading to 2005 for just the sheet set alone.  The new Text Fields are a real time saver.

It apears that the recent patch that AutoDESK released has solved most of the problems, along with further knowldge of the new hatchsnap toggle etc.

Thanks for the help. :o
